Terms & Conditions

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

 

  1. Registration and entry to the competition is open to all teachers currently and permanently employed by any high school or primary school in the Perth, Metropolitan area, Western Australia. 
  2. Hawaiian Alive 2009 program commences at 9am on 27 January 2009.
  3. All registration information will be retained.  The email information will be collated in a database and the information will be used for emailing purposes.  Registrants will receive email communication from time to time notifying them of new offers.  Registrants who do not wish to receive further emails can unsubscribe by emailing unsubscribe@hawaiianalive.com.au.  Personal details will not be passed on to a third party.
  4. Instructions on how to register, how to enter and other information contained within promotional material form part of these terms and conditions.
  5. To participate in this promotion, an eligible person must:
    1. be a teacher at either a primary or high school
    1. be permanently contractually employed by that school.
  6. The Hawaiian Alive 2009 Program is divided into 4 groups.  Lower primary school (Year 1 to Year 3), Upper Primary School (Year 4 to Year 7), Lower High School (Year 8 to Year 10 and Upper High School (Year 11 & Year 12).
  1. The promoter agrees to provide the prizes.
  2. The prizes in the Hawaiian Alive Program 2009 include the following:
    1. Lower Primary Prizes
      • 1 x Perth Wildcats ‘Go for 2 & 5’ Engage Program – Basketball Coaching Clinic
        • 2 Perth Wildcat Players will visit the winning school and conduct a coaching clinic
        • The prize is for one school class (maximum 25 students).
        • The coaching clinic will run for 50 minutes.
        • The school will need to provide a suitable basketball court with marking and rings, a basketball for every 2 students and a suitable supervisor (teacher).
        • Students will be required to wear sports uniform and sports shoes and a water bottle and hat/cap if outdoors.
        • Perth Wildcats will provide a Go for 2 & 5 Teachers resource pack, team posters, player cards and other small giveaway items subject to availability.
        • Hawaiian will provide one gift bag per student.
      • 1 x WAAPA Workshop – ‘Sparkling Rhythms’ – Interactive Percussion Workshop
        • Hands-on musical workshop run by Tim White, WASO Principle Percussionist and Senior Lecturer, Percussion at WAAPA.
        • The school will be required to provide a suitable supervisor (teacher) during the session.
        • The prize is for one school class (maximum 35 students).
        • The 90 minute workshop will be held at the winning teacher’s school.
        • Hawaiian will provide one gift bag per student.
      • 1 x Clontarf Foundation Football Coaching Clinic
        • 1 hour Football skills coaching clinic held at the winning teacher’s school.
        • A coach and 6 indigenous boys will run the coaching clinic.
        • The prize is for one school class (maximum 35 students).
        • Students will be required to wear sports uniform and sports shoes and a water bottle and hat/cap if outdoors.
        • The school will be required to provide a suitable supervisor (teacher) during the session.
        • Hawaiian will provide one gift bag per student.
        • Entries close 8 May 2009
        • Coaching clinic date and time will be negotiated with Clontarf Foundation and the winning teacher.  However, the workshop must be conducted during the days 2 June 2009 to 26 June 2009 inclusive.
      • 1 x Movies by Burswood Fundraiser for your school
        • 200 complimentary tickets to Movies By Burswood
        • Entries close 20 February 2009
        • Date of event will be negotiated between the winning teacher and ‘Movies by Burswood’ management.  The event must be during the Movies by Burswood 08/09 season (season ends 4 April 2009).
        • The Movies by Burswood screening date list is not negotiable.
        • The winning school will have early access to set up additional fundraising activities to be run on the night (not included in this offer), such as face painting, selling raffle tickets etc.  These activities must receive prior approval by Movies by Burswood Management.  These activities will be the winning school’s responsibility.  These activities must not be in conflict with Movies By Burswood revenue raising operators, such as, food and beverage vendors.
        •  The venue will not be provided exclusively to the school on the night. Ie. other individual movie patrons will be using the venue as well.
    1. Upper Primary Prizes
      • 1 x Perth Wildcats ‘Go for 2 & 5’ Engage Program – Basketball Coaching Clinic

        • The prize is for one school class (maximum 25 students).
        • The coaching clinic will run for 50 minutes.

        • Students will be required to wear sports uniform and sports shoes and a water bottle and hat/cap if outdoors.

      • 1 x Celebrate WA ANZAC’s Morning Tea
        • Visit to winning teachers school by an RSL member who will speak to the students about ANZAC day.
        • RSL will make available their Display Trailer exhibition
        • The prize is for one school class (maximum 35 students).
        • Hawaiian will provide morning tea catering.  This will be negotiated with Hawaiian management and the winning teacher.
        • The visit will last approximately 1 hr.
        • The school will be required to provide suitable supervision (teachers) during the session.
        • Entries close 15 March 2009
        • Visit will occur on 8 April 2009.
      • 1 x Clontarf Foundation Football Coaching Clinic
        • 1 hour Football skills coaching clinic held at the winning teacher’s school.
        • A coach and 6 indigenous boys will run the coaching clinic.
        • The prize is for one school class (maximum 35 students).
        • Students will be required to wear sports uniform and sports shoes and a water bottle and hat/cap if outdoors.
        • The school will be required to provide a suitable supervisor (teacher) during the session.

      • 2 x STEPS Youth Dance Company Performance 40 ticket package
        • Each winning teacher will win 40 general admission tickets for their class to attend the STEPS Youth Dance Company performance of ‘Epic Battles & Tragic Romance’.
        • Performances are scheduled for 10.30am Friday 3 April 2009,  1pm Friday 3 April 2009,  10.30am Monday 6 April 2009 and  1pm Monday 6 April 2009.  A Date and time will be negotiated with Hawaiian management and the winning teacher.
        • Return Coach Transfers for students from winning teachers school to the Playhouse Theatre, Pier Street, Perth will be provided at Hawaiian’s cost. 
        • The winning teacher will be required to obtain permission from students’ parents/guardians to attend the performance. 
        • The school will be required to provide a suitable supervisor (teacher) during the excursion.
        • Hawaiian will provide one gift bag per student.
        • Entries close 6 March 2009
    1. Lower High School Prizes

      • 1 x ‘Smarter than Smoking’ Opera in Education Workshop
        • 1 hour interactive workshop held at school of winning teacher.
        • Workshop can accommodate up to 120 students.
        • Presented by 2 WA Opera Chorus members and the Opera’s pianist.
        • The school will be required to provide suitable supervision (teachers) during the session.
        • WA Opera will provide 1 WA Opera Workshop teachers’ kit.
        • Entries close 5pm 30 April 2009
        • Workshop date and time will be negotiated with WA Opera and the winning teacher.  However, the workshop must be conducted during the days 2 June 2009 to 5 June 2009 inclusive.
      • 1 x WAAPA Workshop – ‘Communicating with Confidence’ Workshop
        • 2 hour interactive workshop held at WAAPA Edith Cowan Campus, Mt Lawley.
        • Workshop can accommodate up to 20 students.
        • Participants will be required to present a 3-5 minute speech/presentation.  The presentations will be videoed and feedback will be given during the session.
        • Students are requested to wear pants/trousers not dresses/skirts and that their attire is as comfortable and loose as possible.
        • Workshop presented by Julia Moody – Head of Voice at the Acting Department of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA).
        • The school will be required to provide suitable supervision (teachers) during the session.
        • Return Coach Transfers for students from winning teachers school to the WAAPA Edith Cowan Campus, Mt Lawley will be provided at Hawaiian’s cost. 
        • The winning teacher will be required to obtain permission from students’ parents/guardians to attend the performance. 
        • Workshop date and time will be negotiated with Julia Moody and the winning teachers, but must be during the week commencing 4 May 2009.
        • Entries close 5pm 6 April 2009
        • Workshop date and time will be negotiated with WA Opera and the winning teacher.  However, the workshop must be conducted during the days 15 June 2009 to 26 June 2009 inclusive.
        • Hawaiian will provide one gift bag per student.
      • 1 x Clontarf Foundation Football Coaching Clinic
        • 1 hour Football skills coaching clinic held at the winning teacher’s school.

      • Youth Focus Workshop: ‘Understanding young people who self harm’
        • 2 hour interactive workshop held at school of winning teacher.
        •  Number of teachers able to attend the workshop will be negotiated with winning teacher and Youth Focus workshop facilitator.
        • Presented by a Youth Focus Senior Counsellor – Nicole Marshall
        • Entries close 5pm 2 May 2009
        • Workshop date and time will be negotiated with Youth Focus and the winning teacher. However, the workshop must be conducted by the end of school year 2009.
    1. Upper High School Prizes
      • 1 x ‘Smarter than Smoking’ Opera in Education Workshop
        • 1 hour interactive workshop held at school of winning teacher.
        • Workshop can accommodate up to 120 students.
        • Presented by 2 WA Opera Chorus members and the Opera’s pianist.
        • The school will be required to provide suitable supervision (teachers) during the session.
        • WA Opera will provide 1 WA Opera Workshop teachers’ kit.
        • Entries close 5pm 30 April 2009
        • Workshop date and time will be negotiated with WA Opera and the winning teacher.  However, the workshop must be conducted during the days 2 June 2009 to 5 June 2009 inclusive.
      • 1 x Celebrate WA Photography Workshop one-on-one with Nick Melidonis
        • The workshop will be run from 10am to 11.30am 6 April 2009, at the winning teacher’s school.  Date and time may be negotiated between Nick Melidonis and winning teacher if it does not suit.
        • The prize is for one school class (maximum 35 students).
        • The school will be required to provide a suitable supervisor (teacher) during the session.
        • The school will be required to provide a presentation room that can be darkened and has a large screen.  Nick Melidonis will provide a projector, laptop and all other equipment required for the workshop.
        • Students will be required to bring a notebook, pen, and their digital camera along with the instruction manual.
        • Hawaiian will provide one gift bag per student.
        • Entries close 13 March 2009
      • Youth Focus Workshop: ‘Attention on Prevention’ Workshop
        • 1 hour interactive workshop held at school of winning teacher.
        • Number of students able to attend the workshop will be negotiated with winning teacher and Youth Focus workshop facilitator.
        • Presented by a Youth Focus Senior Counsellor.
        • The school will be required to provide suitable supervision (teachers) during the session.
        • Entries close 5pm 27 February 2009
        • Workshop date and time will be negotiated with Youth Focus and the winning teacher.  However, the workshop must be conducted between March and June 2009, inclusive.
      • 1 x Clontarf Foundation Football Coaching Clinic
        • 1 hour Football skills coaching clinic held at the winning teacher’s school.
        • A coach and 6 indigenous boys will run the coaching clinic.
        • The prize is for one school class (maximum 35 students).
        • Students will be required to wear sports uniform and sports shoes and a water bottle and hat/cap if outdoors.
        • The school will be required to provide a suitable supervisor (teacher) during the session.

    1. Primary School Teacher Registration Prize
      • 1 x Dyslexia Speld ‘Fabulous Phonics’ Workshop
        • Full-day course for ‘all’ teachers (maximum 36 teachers) at the winning teachers school.
        • Presented by Mandy Nayton, Executive officer of the Dyslexia-SPELD Foundation.
        • Date of workshop to be negotiated between the winning teacher and Dyslexia-SPELD Foundation.
        • Entries close 27/02/09
    1. High School Teacher Registration Prize
      • 40 x Double Pass to “Danza Viva” At His Majesty’s Theatre. 
        • The first 40 teachers to register to Hawaiian Alive will be awarded two free tickets to the 15/05/09 performance of “Danza Viva” commencing at 7pm, downstairs at His Majesty’s Theatre, Hay Street, Perth, WA.
  1. Winners will be chosen at the promoter’s discretion.  The promoter’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered in to.  Winner will be notified by phone and email.  Winners school name will be posted on www.hawaiianalive.com.au
  2. The promoter shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered or for any personal injury suffered or sustained as a result of the prize except for any liability, which cannot be excluded by law.
